Steam Release Retrospective And The Future

Okay, it's been over a month since Steam release and three months since the release of the final (yes, final) version of the beta, 1.05.  Looking back, the beta has so many issues, but it also represents an important point when I thought I was "done" that I want to maintain.

Although I previously said I would be charging for the game after Steam release, the difference in quality between this and the Steam release is great enough that I feel offering this for free or name your own price still is most appropriate.

So, yeah, that two months between 1.05 and Steam were just absolutely hectic.  I used the Kickstarter funds to pay artists and beta testers and worked out bugs right until the day after release.  Then, I stopped finding bugs, nobody reported any anymore, I breathed a long sigh, and then...

Inspiration struck.

I had ideas for a sequel, another bullet hell game, but something completely different came from out of nowhere.  I designed a really interesting / unique control scheme for a 3D shmup.  It's a little difficult to explain, but I got to work on it right away.  I started courses on Blender and Unity.  I built a movement engine and ship in Unity and flew it around a bit.  As I suspected, although very unusual, the controls were also quite intuitive after a little playing around.  It's got potential... maybe... It depends on what I do with it.

The latest update for the sequel is that, after updating Unity the other day, my project doesn't work anymore lol

So, I'm going to start over.  And make it better.

Sometime.

As you may or may not know, I have ADHD and have a hard time sticking with projects long-term.  As of that Unity update, I haven't been working on game dev stuff at all.  Which is unfortunate, because I do want to make this game, but the time simply isn't right right now.  I vaguely understand how my brain works, so I expect to be back.  Just not now.

Rest assured, once there is something playable and fun, I'll post it for free on here first.  So, keep your peepers peeled.

Thank you for all your support!
